Former Rangers midfielder Arnold Peralta has been shot dead at a shopping mall in Honduras.

The 26-year-old was killed in the city of La Ceiba after being killed beside his car. The motive remains unclear.

Peralta joined Rangers in June 2013. He only left the club last January and was part of the team that won the Scottish League One title in 2014.

He was a regular in the Honduras team but missed the 2014 World Cup due to injury. He was part of the team that featured in the 2012 Olympics where Honduras were knocked out by Brazil in the quarter finals.

He played 26 times for his country but never scored.
