The body of a missing Ohio State University football player has been discovered days after he went missing. The player is understood to have taken his own life.
According to Time, 22-year-old Kosta Karageorge, a defensive lineman and wrestler, was last seen on Wednesday.
NBC is reporting that he was found in a dumpster just blocks from his apartment along with a handgun. However, police are unsure if the handgun belonged to him.
The Athletics department confirmed the news in a statement: “The Ohio State University Department of Athletics was shocked and saddened to learn today of the death of student-athlete Kosta Karageorge.”
Karageorge’s mother reported that he suffered from concussions and periods of confusion. He had text her shortly before he went missing to apologise for being an “embarrassment”.
