Several clubs across rugby and football platforms are participating in a campaign which aims to promote integration of homosexual members and tackle the discrimination that has oppressed them for so long.

The Rainbow Laces campaign was launched by an LGBT charity in 2013, to highlight issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual players and other members of sports clubs.

This weekend, players from Premier League clubs and the Rugby Union will wear rainbow laces on their boots to show their solidarity with the cause. Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are among the plethora of clubs who will be taking part as well as teams from the Championship, Premiership Rugby and other divisions. Wembley Arch in London, will also be lit up in rainbow colours today.
