Darren Fletcher has provided a timely boost for Manchester United as he nears a return to action.

The Scottish midfielder has been battling a bowel condition called ulceritis colitis since 2011.

But he has now returned to training for the first time since an operation in January 2012.

He last played competitively on Boxing Day against Newcastle.

But he is line for a return to first team action in November.
