Phil Thompson believes Alex Ferguson’s reaction to Simon Beck’s officiating performance in yesterday’s game between Manchester United and Spurs was over the top. While Thompson believes the incident in question was a penalty he also thinks the Manchester United manager is wrong to look back to incidents from three years ago when suggesting some sort of bias from Beck.

Thompson was speaking with Newstalk’s Eoin Brennan this morning and discussed Liverpool’s improving home fortunes, the long term prospects of Daniel Sturridge at Anfield and the continuing problems at Arsenal, following their 2-1 defeat against Chelsea.
