Kilkenny look set to be without Michael Fennelly for the start of their All Ireland defence. The defender admitted today that it is “probably unrealistic” he will be back in county colours in time for the opening game of the championship.
The cats already face into their opening game without the talismanic Henry Shefflin, who has previously revealed he will be sidelined for the opening game, the Leinster championship quarter final against Offaly.
Fennelly admitted it was “still early days yet” but the Offaly game seemed an unlikely target. “Offaly is in two weeks time and I’m only back walking,” he said.
Fennelly was speaking with Newstalk’s Oisin Langan, at the launch of the new Elvery’s youth camps.
