Spanish champions FC Barcelona have released pictures of how they expect the Camp Nou to look once renovations are completed on the stadium. The capacity is expected to be increased to 105,000.

The stadium has been home to the Catalan giants since 1957 and currently can hold just under 100,000 fans. Work is scheduled to begin next year and is due to be completed in time for the 2021/2022 season.

Japanese architects Nikken Sekkei are to redesign the stadium.  The company have designed many stadia in Japan including the Saitama Super Arena and the Tokyo Dome.

Among the biggest changes to the stadium will be the addition of a roof. Currently, the Tribuna stand is the only one that is covered in the stadium.

The home of the FC Barcelona is the biggest stadium in Europe. It has not hosted the Champions League final since Manchester United defeated Bayern Munich in 1999. The renovations should help bring Europe's biggest game back to Barcelona sooner rather than later.
