Fans of the Simpsons and Family Guy are in for a treat as the cast of both shows are going to meet each other next year.

In the story the Griffins go on a road trip and meet their yellow counterparts in Springfield.

Apparently the two families will get on famously with Stewie impressed by Bart's pranks, while Homer and Peter will debate whose beer - Duff or Pawtucket - is better.

It will not be the first time there has been a crossover between the two animated families. The character of Peter popped up on The Simpsons in 2002, and Homer appeared on Family Guy last year. The episode is set to air in 2014.

'Family Guy' and 'The Simpsons' are both part of Fox's Sunday night line-up and return in September for their 11th and 25th seasons respectively.
