The Football Association has confirmed it has received a request from Hull City to change their playing name to Hull Tigers from next season onwards.

The FA will now undertake a consultation process, and supporter groups will be asked how they feel about the plans.

The governing body says it cannot provide a timescale for the completion of that process.

The attempt to change the name has been pushed by owner Assem Allam who has faced opposition from the club's fans.
