Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Brom are the Premier League casualties at the first hurdle of the FA Cup, while Manchester City, Norwich and Fulham all go to replays.

Villa were beaten 2-1 at home against League One side Sheffield United with a late goal for the visitors sending Villa out.

Manchester City were nearly the victims of the first major upset of the cup as they drew 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers. City went down to 10 men but held out against late Blackburn pressure.
