Former Ferrari Formula One mechanic Nigel Stepney has died at the age of 56.

The Englishman, who was part of the 2007 "spygate" scandal, was involved in a fatal road accident in Kent this morning.

Stepney never worked in F1 again after being accused of leaking confidential information to rival team McLaren in the lead up to the 2007 season.
