Neymar's early Barcelona career has been promising but as our European football correspondent Graham Hunter says, it has come at too high a price.

Barca president Sandro Rosell resigned in the last few hours amid allegations that he misappropriated funds during the transfer of the Brazilian from Santos to the Nou Camp.

Rosell and Barcelona state that they paid €57 million for Neymar. But there are claims that the deal was actually worth €95 million.

Even though Rosell has departed the scene, a Spanish High Court case and further question marks down the line mean that more revelations will emerge according to Graham.

"I'm afraid there's going to be more mudslinging and potentially embarrassing revelations to come," said Graham.

"It comes against a backdrop of an extraordinary stream of stories over the last seven months from investigative reports in Brazil, saying Sandro Rosell's relationship with the Brazilian federation had left him on a retainer where he was paid directly for decisions which they allege were taken for his benefit, rather than for the benefit of FC Barcelona. These claims have been made. We can't prove them but the entire flurry of accusations have left Rosell damaged and needing to walk away."
