Former Liverpool left-back Andrea Dossena says claims that he was arrest on suspicion of shoplifting are unfounded.
The alleged incident reportedly took place in a Harrods store in London.
Police confirmed that a 33-year-old man and 31-year-old were arrested at the store on suspicion of shoplifting and taken to a police station.
The Leyton Orient defender, played for Liverpool between 2008 and 2010 and won 10 Italy caps.
Dossena addressed the situation through his agent Federico Pastorello on Twitter:
