Bundesliga

It doesn't get much better than netting a hat-trick on your debut for the Champions League finalists. That's exactly what happened to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Saturday, away to Augsburg.

The Gabonese forward opened the scoring during a slightly ponderous first half for Borussia Dortmund with Jurgen Klopp's men fortunate to still have a lead.

But Dortmund came out fighting and it was their new signing from Saint Etienne that notched two more, before wantaway striker Robert Lewandowski stroked in a penalty to make it 4 - 0.

As you can see from Aubameyang's goals, pace and composure are one of his main assets.

Towards the end of last season I looked at the reasons why football in Berlin has struggled to make an impact at Bundesliga level. This season however, Hertha Berlin are back after earning promotion from the second tier and they got their season off to bang.

The capital club routed Eintracht Frankfurt 6 - 1, an astonishing result given the latter's success last season.

Eredivisie

The Dutch top division enters its second week and a young PSV winger is stealing the limelight. Zakaria Bakkali scored a hat-trick against NEC Nijmegen in just his second ever Eredivisie appearance. Bear in mind, the Belgian of Moroccan descent is only 17. PSV went on to win 5 - 0 and Bakkali will be the subject of The Scouting Report this Sunday.

Meanwhile PSV's rivals Ajax went down 3 - 2 in a thriller away to AZ. Feyenoord were also put to the sword at home to Twente. The 4 - 1 defeat for the Rotterdam side means they are still pointless after two games.

Ligue 1

Radamel Falcao got his Monaco career off to good start, finding the net late on in a 2 - 0 win over Bordeaux.

Fellow big spenders PSG made a faltering start in their first game under Laurent Blanc. The reigning Ligue 1 champions drew 1 - 1 with 2012 champions Montpellier. New €65 million signing Edinson Cavani came on as a late substitute.

Lyon are also off to a flyer, recording a 4 - 0 win over Nice at Stade Gerland.

Nantes also netted their exile from Ligue 1, getting a comfortable 2 - 0 win in their first game back in the top flight.
