Manchester United needed two second half goals to prevent another home disappointment, coming from 2-1 down to beat Stoke City 3-2 at Old Trafford.
The win gives the champions a much needed psychological boost, with goals from Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez ensuring the deepening malaise at Old Trafford was stopped in its tracks, for now at least.
Stoke had gone ahead through Peter Crouch early in the first half, before Robin Van Persie equalised close to half-time. A fine free kick from Marko Arnautovic put Stoke ahead again and left United reeling.
Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge continued their blossoming partnership, with the Uruguayan scoring a hat-trick and the English striker hitting a superb chip to make it 4-1 against West Brom at Anfield. James Morrison scored from the spot for the only goal of the game for the away team.

Everton beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Villa Park. Romelu Lukaku and Leon Osman were the scorers for the Toffees. Villa’s Christian Benteke missed a penalty in the first half.
In the fourth afternoon kick off the day it was a 0-0 draw between Norwich and Cardiff City at Carrow Road.
Liverpool move second in the table, 2 points behind Arsenal who won 2-0 away to Crystal palace in the day’s early kick off.
