England's second game at the cricket World Cup has ended in another crushing defeat.

Having been hammered by 111 runs by Australia in their opening game, they went down to an 8 wicket thrashing at the hands of the other tournament hosts, New Zealand.

England were bowled out for just 123, while New Zealand knocked off the runs with more than 37 overs to spare.

Captain Eoin Morgan told Sky Sports News their opponents were too good for them with the ball.

“Conditions suited them, it swung throughout the whole of our innings, which was pretty unexpected, we expected conditions here to be batter friendly if anything,” Morgan said.

“Credit goes to them, they built pressure and bowled pretty well.”
