England have narrowed the points difference between themselves and Ireland with a fine 52-11 win over Italy in Rome, but it will not be enough should Ireland emerge victorious from this evening’s final 6 Nations game, against France in Paris.

It was a dominant performance from England, but the 41 point win was still 8 points short of cancelling Ireland’s points difference advantage and now means that a win in Paris will see Joe Schmidt’s men crowned 6 Nations champions.

Mike Brown and Owen Farrell were the stars for England, with Brown scoring two tries and Farrell excelling with his kicking, taking a total of 22 points thanks to 7 conversions, a penalty and a try.

Italy’s scores came from a Leonardo Sarto try and 2 penalties from Luciano Orquera.
