Sunderland footballer Adam Johnson has been arrested over allegations of sex with a 15-year-old girl.

According to the Sun, the 27-year-old was picked up from his house by police at 9.15 this morning.

Sky Sports News confirmed the identity of the player, and say that Johnson is in custody and helping "police with their enquiries."

The Sun reports that police found a loaded gun in the house, but that the weapon is legally owned.
