Ernie Els has won the BMW International Open in Munich. The South African won by the narrowest of margins, finishing just one shot ahead of his nearest pursuer Thoams Bjorn of Denmark.

The four time major winner lead from Thursday to Sunday and secured victory with a two foot birdie putt on the 18^th .

Shane Lowry scored a superb final round of 65, leaving him at 11 under for the tournament and tied for 22^nd.

David Higgins and Peter Lawrie both finished on 9 under for the tournament.
