Former Ajax and Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is to step out of retirement this weekend to play for VV Noordwijk.
The 45-year-old retired from football in 2011 after leaving the international game in 2008. He won two Champions League titles 13-years apart with Ajax and Manchester United.
VV Noordwijk play in the fourth-tier of Dutch football in the Hoofdklasse. Van der Sar played with the amateur side as a teenager before beginning his professional career with Ajax in 1990.
Jodan Boys will provide the opposition for van der Sar in his return to football. The deal with Noordwijk only lasts one game as their first choice goalkeeper is currently out of action with a knee injury.
Van der Sar's last competitive game was the Champions League final in Wembley when Barcelona defeated Manchester United in 2011.
