Ed Joyce has been awarded Irish cricket’s highest individual honour, being named Ireland’s International Men’s Player of the Year at last night’s RSA Cricket Awards. Joyce won out against the challenge of fellow nominees William Porterfield and Max Sorensen.
The 35 year old Sussex player was just one half of a memorable family double as his sister, Isobel Joyce, was named International Women’s Player of the Year. Isobel Joyce this year became only the second Irish woman to reach 100 caps for her country, while also playing a pivotal role in Ireland qualifying for next year’s ICC World Twenty20 finals in Bangladesh.
