Polish champions Legia Warsaw stand between Dundalk, and a place in the group stages of the Champions League.

Stephen Kenny's side were the seventh team drawn out of the Champions Route and were paired with the team who knocked St. Patrick's Athletic out of the Champions League two years ago 6-1 on aggregate.

Dundalk's 3-0 win on Tuesday night against BATE Borisov guaranteed the back-to-back league champions at least a spot in the group stages of the Europa League even if they lose to Legia.

The Polish champions defeated Slovakian side AS Trencin 1-0 to book their place in the play-off round. Unlike Dundalk, Legia have competed in the group stages of the Champions League. They reached the quarter-finals in 1996, before losing to Panathanaikos.

The Aviva Stadium will host Dundalk's home leg, although the dates for both legs have not been confirmed. The first leg will take place on 16th/17th August, with the return leg taking place on 23rd/24th August.

No matter what happens to Dundalk, the team are still guaranteed to play another eight games in Europe this season.
