Jason Dufner hit a Friday round, and course record, of 63 to take a 2 shot lead at the US PGA Championship at Oak Hill.
Dufner came close to setting the record for a lowest ever major round, but saw a 12ft birdie putt fall agonisingly short and rob the American of his chance of a round of 62.
Dufner leads Adam Scott (68), Matt Kuchar (66) and Jim Furyk (67), who all sit on 7 under.
Tiger Woods appears to have left his WGC form at Firestone, hitting level par 70 yesterday to sit on 1 over for the tournament.
Rory McIlroy’s poor year has continued and it required a late resurgence from the reigning champion to ensure he saw the weekend. McIlroy was 4 over through the first 10 holes but fought back with 4 birdies to finish with 71 and enter the weekend on 1 over.
Graeme McDowell is on 1 under while Darren Clarke is at level par and Shane Lowry is 1 over. Paul McGinley and Padraig Harrington have both missed the cut.
