They start them young in the DDSL.

Crumlin United have released a video of one of their seven-year-old players scoring a goal in a recent game. The buildup play wouldn't look out of place in any of the top league's around the continent.

Sean McDonnell scored the goal after playing an elaborate one-two with Sam Cowzer. On their Facebook page, Crumlin United described how the goal was scored.

"This 7 year old boy started & finished one of the best goals you are likely to see all year. He calmly beat his 1st opponent by controlling the ball, then a clever drag back allowed his team mate Sam Cowzer to dribble forward & release the ball back to Sean with sole roll. Sean had a quick look at the keeper and decided he could catch him off his line so he chipped the ball up & caught it sweet on the volley & it dipped over the keepers head and into the net."

The club were quick to praise the Dublin and District Schoolboy League for letting players at such a youg age to express themselves. There are no league tables in McDonnell's age grade.

"This creative play & skill is a product of good coaching & a great decision by the DDSL to have no league tables & points at stake for our younger players. This allows the kids to express themselves without the fear of losing a game at an age were it doesn't matter."
