It has emerged that two bids for the World athletics Championships by Doha are being investigated over allegations of bribery.

Qatar denies any wrongdoing over the 2017 and 2019 events, the latter of which is due to be held there.

UK Athletics chairman Ed Warner has previously made allegations about "brown envelopes" being handed out to IAAF council members.

He told British MPs that the ethics commission of that organisation is looking into the matter.

"I've had a number of discussions with the IAAF and they have told me the 2017 and 2019 bids by Doha have now been referred to their ethics commission," said Warner, adding that he was delighted that the claims are being looked into.

"My next conversation will be with the ethics commission to lay out all I heard."
