Yesterday, former Ireland defender Kenny Cunningham was on hand at St James Park alongside Dave McIntyre for Off The Ball as Manchester City got their title defence off to a solid start.

The 2 - 0 win saw David Silva and Sergio Aguero score in each half, but the match also saw Stevan Jovetic attempt to stake a claim for a regular starting spot.

But did Cunningham see enough from the Montenegrin?

"I think he's comfortable going in behind, he likes to drop deep and link play up as he did today. I think he'll get better with games," said Kenny, who also gave his take on how manager Manuel Pellegrini will rotate his City strikeforce.

The ex-Sunderland and Birmingham City centre-back was impressed by Newcastle's midfield balance and also picked out the new Magpies signings who caught his eye and whether there are regular goals in the squad:
