Everton's 4 - 0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool was a major blow for Roberto Martinez' side.
But did today's defeat mark the point where the Toffees' Top 4 challenge ended in every sense other than mathematically?
Miguel Delaney told us that Everton's main issue tonight seemed to be the absence of Sylvain Distin and Seamus Coleman in the back four, with Liverpool scoring for fun (watch some of the goals here).
But does an admittedly painful defeat to Liverpool end their nascent Top 4 ambitions?
"I was surprised that they were still able to sustain [their challenge]. They were getting a lot of wins in all the games that you would expect a better team to win. But now it seems as if they are regressing to the mean a little bit. It looks like they are beginning to blip a little bit," said Miguel who also pointed out that Romelu Lukaku had only scored once in his last nine games before being helped off the pitch tonight.
Miguel also piad special attention to Liverpool's performance and Luis Suarez' display in particular.
