Dick Advocaat has been named as coach of his native Holland for the third time in his career on Tuesday morning.

Dutch legend and former Newcastle United manager Ruud Gullit will act as his assistant.

The former Rangers and Sunderland manager takes over from Danny Blind, who was sacked in March after a defeat to Bulgaria. He has previously failed to take The Netherlands to Euro 2016 in France.

Advocaat previously managed the national side from 1992-94 and 2002-04, as well as serving as assistant three times.

The 69-year-old has had stints managing the national teams of the UAE, South Korea, Belgium, Russia and Serbia.

Holland are currently in fourth place in their qualifying group for Russia 2018 and welcome Luxembourg to Rotterdam in June.
