Derry City may have to look for a temporary home ground for the last three months of the forthcoming League of Ireland season.

The Brandywell is to be redeveloped over the next year, which will result in the stadium being fit for Derry City to start their 2017 season in the redeveloped stadium.

According to plans revealed on Derry City's website, Derry City Council want to lay a new 3G pitch in the stadium in August meaning The Candystripes will have to potentially ground share for the remainder of the season.

Among Derry's options are to play their games in Finn Park in Ballybofey, or they might try and stay closer to home and strike a deal with Irish League side Insitute and play in the Riverside Stadium.

Derry City may have to play at least six league games away from their home, if the plans go ahead as scheduled, including games against Cork City, Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers.
