For a man on a reported £70K per week deal, spending £75K per year for a Personal Assistant seems like a cheap luxury.
That's exactly what Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe is advertising as he looks for applicants who will help to "create a global brand for the Jermain Defoe brand name" - or more specifically check that fridges are well stocked etc
But the former England international is hardly the first sports star to go in search of some home help.
Jonjo Shelvey's chef
As most of us can agree on, there's nothing like a home-cooked meal and the Swansea midfielder clearly realises that.
Earlier this summer, Shelvey advertised for a live-in chef to cook his family's meals with a starting salary of £60K per annum.
As the job spec said: "Working on a rota basis over seven days, you must also have a large repertoire within different cuisines.
"As Private Chef you will also need experience and knowledge of sports nutrition, healthy, high performance meals, sports nutrition and well-balanced meals to provide a varied diet.
"You must also have has some previous private chef experience."
Also the term live-in does not actually mean sharing a house with the ex-Liverpool players' family, but travelling from a commutable distance.
Jim Harbaugh
The former San Francisco 49ers coach was also looking for some help this summer as he advertised for a "Director of Internal Communications and Operations for the Head Football Coach".
Specifically that meant administrative tasks, help "with personal social media account and messaging" and assisting with "personal appearances and off-season engagements" that the current University of Michigan Wolverine coach needs.
Here's one of his fabled social media accounts:
The negatives
As this seven-point piece in ESPN about life as a PA to NBA stars, it's clearly not all a kettle of fish with excerpts like, "Often wives and girlfriends get jealous. I've worked for guys in the past who said, 'You have keys to my house. If a woman can't deal with that, she can leave.' But I've also heard about assistants being fired because a fiancée didn't like them" or "The job does get in the way of our personal lives, though. It's hard to meet men or new friends who don't just want autographs or tickets. That's why, now, I usually just say I'm in marketing."
