Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has said that he would have "committed suicide" had he moved to Manchester.
The World Cup winner has spent his entire career at Roma but had been linked with a move to the Premier League during recent transfer windows.
However, the Italian decided to stay at the club and has reaped the rewards as Rudi Garcia's team have made a superb start to the season.
De Rossi told Corriere dello Sport that he has no regrets in turning down a move to Manchester.
"It was a good thing that I didn't go to Manchester. I would have committed suicide," said the 30-year-old Roma legend.
"If I left for Man Utd or any other club I would have felt like killing myself right now. Winning and challenging for the title with Roma has been my life time ambition and I would have felt very bad if I missed out that chance."
