Cork and Clare must do it all again on September 28th but for so long the Banner seemed to keep themselves ahead of their rivals.

No wonder Davy Fitz said it would have been a travesty if they had lost.

The Clare manager spoke to Newstalk Breakfast after the match and revealed his relief that his team get another shot at glory thanks to Domhnall O'Donovan's late equaliser.

"I'd prefer to be playing in a rubbish one and winning it. If we had lost that it would have been a travesty, that's my honest opinion. I have other opinions that I will keep to myself and we will continue to do that. But I'm so proud of the boys today. They're an exceptional bunch. We kept coming back after all the sucker punches. The one thing I'm worried about is the '21s. It's game after game after game. How many times can I ask them to do this?

He also praised corner back Domhnall O'Donovan's nerve of steels in injury time as he fired over a late - and rare - point.

O'Donovan was also on hand to speak to Oisin following the final.

He talked him through the final point of an enthralling encounter.

"I saw it was less than 30 seconds left on the clock when the Cork lads hit a sideline and it went to the left. Patrick Kelly had the ball in his hand and I wasn't exactly looking for the ball but I saw an opportunity and made myself available. I'm not known for my shooting so I was just hoping to set up another attack."
