David Luiz has taken to Facebook to distance himself from quotes attributed to him by Sun Gossip (no affiliation with The Sun newspaper), which were then taken up by other outlets.

The former PSG defender completed a surprise move back to Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day and the social media account claimed Luiz said he had "wasted two years" of his career in France and also quoted him as saying "it is like playing FIFA [the football video game] on beginner level."

He posted a lengthy explanation on Facebook saying he had tremendous respect for French football.
