Irish goalkeeper David Harte has been announced as the FIH Goalkeeper of the Year for 2015.

The 27-year-old was part of the Irish team that qualified for this year's Olympic Games. The Irish captain also led the team to finish in third place at the EuroHockey Championships 2015. It was Ireland's first medal at a major international event.

Harte was named the best goalkeeper at the EuroHockey Championships in London and he won the same award at World League Round 2 and World League Round 3 events last year in America and Belgium.

Shane O’Donoghue was nominated for the Rising Star award but lost out to Germany's Christopher Ruhr.
