While the Winter Olympics are well and truly over, Sochi will continue to be a hub for winter sport over the next week as the Winter Paralympics get underway tomorrow.
To preview the event, we were joined by Channel 4's Irish TV presenter Daraine Mulvihill who will be heading for Sochi tomorrow.
Tensions over LGBT rights and potential terrorist attacks caused worries ahead of the Winter Olympics but the Paralympics are taking place at a time of heightened tensions over Ukraine, something Mulvihill has steeled herself for.
"Now with the tensions high with the whole situation in Ukraine, I don't know what situation we're going to find ourselves in. But we'll have to forget about it once we get there and just concentrate on the sport hopefully," she said, adding that the lower profile of the Paralympics should make sure tensions are more reduced than last month's Olympics.
Mulvihill gave us a little background about the Winter Paralympics which contains just five sports - three of which are ski events as well as wheelchair curling and ice sledge hockey. Unfortunately, no Irish athletes are competing this year with Mulvihill the lone Irish person flying the flag in Sochi.
But she also feels Channel 4 has helped raise the profile of the summer and winter Paralympics by giving it extensive coverage.
Daraine also spoke about losing her legs to meningitis in her teens, how she "came out the other side" and the importance of raising awareness about the disease.
