Daniel Day Lewis will add to his array of honours with a knighthood. The three time Oscar winner was named as one of 1,100 people who will be honoured in Queen Elizabeth’s Bithday Honours list.

The Wicklow resident, who holds dual citizenship between Britain and Ireland, is perhaps the finest actor of his generation, and the most decorated of all time, with his roles in My Left Foot, Lincoln and There Will be Blood all earning him Best Actor Oscars. Day-Lewis is one of just three male actors to win three Oscars for acting, and the only one to ever win three Oscars in the lead actor category.

Other well known names included in the honours list include Wales rugby coach Warren Gatland, who will receive an OBE, Angelina Jolie, set to receive an honourary damehood for her anti-rape campaigning.
