Dan Martin has won the Tour of Lombardy. The Irish rider timed his final sprint to perfection to beat Spain’s Alejandro Valverde of the Movistar team.

The 128 year old Garmin-Sharp rider attacked with half a kilometre left of the 256 kilometre race between Italian towns of Como and Bergamo.

It is the second major win Martin has enjoyed, after his win in the 2013 Liege-Baston-Liege race.
