Ireland's Dan Martin is in fifth place in the general classification after the sixth stage of the Paris-Nice race.
The Quick-Step rider was fifth today as his teammate Julian Alaphilippe maintained the leader's yellow jersey. Martin finished one minute twenty seconds behind Alaphillipe.
Simon Yates of the Orica-Scott team attacked with 19 kilometres to go to win the stage from Aubagne to Fayence, finishing 17-seconds ahead of Team Sky's Sergio Henao.
The British rider was pleased to take a stage victory.
"I had a small idea toward the end whether I'd try something," he said after the race. "It was all depending on how I felt and the conditions.
"I got to the moment and I thought to myself 'why not?'. I had nothing to lose. If I get caught, I get caught. So I tried and I was just happy that it worked."
