Daithi Regan has revealed why Galway hurling star Joe Canning was shown a yellow card against Dublin in a recent championship match.

The former Offaly hurler was on Off The Ball tonight and as talk turned to the refereeing ahead of this weekend, Daithi let us in on something he was told.

"Interestingly, Brian Gavin mentioned to me after the Galway-Dublin game when he booked Joe Canning, he said, 'no-one knows why I booked Joe Canning. It wasn't for throwing the goalkeeper to the ground. It was for sledging,'" said Daithi.
