Crystal Palace have signed Emmanuel Adebayor.

The former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham striker has joined them until the end of the season.

He had been a free agent after leaving Spurs last September.

The former Togo international has veered between productive and ineffectual spells in his Premier League career.

Joint-second top scorer in the Premier League in 2007/08 at Arsenal, he left the Emirates under a cloud in 2009 to join cash-rich Manchester City, where he scored 14 goals in his debut season there.

But he also courted controversy with a goal against Arsenal which saw him race from one end of the field to the other to celebrate provocatively in front of the Gunners fans.

His second season at City saw him score just once in the Premier League before he left for Tottenham where he scored 17 league goals in the first campaign.

But like at City, his form tailed off - bar a productive spell under caretaker boss Tim Sherwood in the second half of the 2013-14 season - and also featured a loan move to Real Madrid.

The 31-year-old's contract at Spurs was terminated by mutual consent last September, leaving him a free agent.
