The Real Madrid striker has almost 37.7 million followers on Twitter alone and commands a few of 230,366 for each tweet. He has 167 million followers across the five biggest social media platforms - Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+ and YouTube.

Gareth Bale also makes the top 40 athletes list at number 13 and receives a paltry 33,237 for taking the time to send out promoted tweets.
