Cork have suffered relegation from the top tier of hurling after a 2-23 to 0-31 defeat to Clare in Division 1A Allianz Hurling League playoff.
The game had gone to extra time at the Gaelic Grounds with the scores locked at 2-17 to 0-23 at the full-time whistle, although Cork had led by two points at half-time in a goalless first half.
But it was Clare who held their nerve in extra time to secure their top tier status for 2014.
