Cork City meet Shamrock Rovers in the Leesiders biggest home game to date in the SSE Airtricity League season, and they’ve produced an innovative and stylish poster advertising the game.

League of Ireland clubs are often, in some cases rightly, criticised for a failure to modernise their methods when it comes to attracting new fans to grounds. A failure to move with changing times has been at the heart of the woes of domestic Irish soccer for decades now. That is changing in recent years as younger fans across the country are increasing their level of involvement in the running of their clubs. This poster, and several others Cork City have produced in recent weeks and months, are examples of a growing trend of imaginative and expertly produced advertisements of games, in many cases produced by fans for their clubs.

Sligo Rovers have repeatedly come up with top quality work in this regard, with this Roy of the Rovers inspired piece advertising their big clash with Shamrock Rovers, at the Showgrounds, in July of 2013.
