Quade Cooper will not be added to Australia’s squad for the test matches with the British & Irish Lions. Australia head coach Robbie Deans has announced he will not include Cooper in the additional six players he plans to add to his squad early next week, although he refused to completely rule out the possibility of Cooper coming to cover injuries at some point.
"We've obviously not included him (Cooper) in the additional six at this stage, but as you've seen (with injuries), things happen quickly," Deans said.
"This is a three-Test campaign and nothing surprises you in this industry.
"Quade is a huge talent; we understand what he is capable of.
"We've now settled on the squad and we'll get on with our opportunity."
Cooper played in yesterday’s match between the Lions and his Queensland Reds club side, putting in a mixed performance with some moments of excellence but tainted by a handful of poor mistakes.
Cooper told Australian TV he is currently focused only on his work for Queensland.
"To me it's not about doing enough or doing anything more; I'm just continuing to do what I can do to be the best that I can be for the team that I'm playing for," he said.
"I'll continue to represent the Reds and anytime that I'm lucky enough to put on their jumper, whatever team it is, I'm going to do the best I can."
