Ireland rugby head-coach Andy Farrell has been handed a fitness boost ahead of the conclusion of the Guinness Six Nations, with Conor Murray set to be fit for the games with Italy and France.

The Munster out-half suffered a thigh injury in the province's loss to Leinster in the semi-finals of the Guinness PRO14.

Murray will "continue to remain under the supervision of the medical team" but Munster are upbeat about his rehab and say he's "progressing well".

Ireland are due to host Italy in four weeks' time before completing their Six Nations campaign away to France a week later.

Lock Jean Kleyn has stepped up his recovery by returning to team training after hurting his neck in Munster's game against Leinster last month.

The South African-native missed Munster's game against Ulster and the semi against Leinster but is back with the squad as they prepare for the new campaign.

Dan Goggin will also train next week following an ankle issue while Andrew Conway is going through the return to play protocols.

RG Snyman (knee) , Dave Kilcoyne (ankle) and Joey Carbery (ankle) remain on Munster's long-term injury list.

The Reds reported earlier this month that World Cup winning Sprinbok Snyman's knee injury went "very well".
