Chad Mendes will be out of action for two years after he was hit with a ban for an anti-doping policy violation.

A statement from the UFC confirmed that Mendes tested positive for a prohibited substance following an out-of-competition urine test in May of 2016, and his ban started on June 10th.

A source close to Mendes spoke to Bloody Elbow to state that taking the drug, known as Growth Hormone-Releasing Hexapeptide (GHRP-6), was accidental and came as a result of a skin cream which he has been using.

While Mendes himself admitted that he made a mistake and has to own it, one of his former opponents is not about to give him too much sympathy: Conor McGregor.

Speaking to his new website, The Mac Life, McGregor reacted to the news of Mendes' suspenion for a doping violation with a pretty short, and succinct response.

"I wonder was he on that stuff when we fought," said McGregor. "One thing I know for sure tho [sic], you can’t put steroids on your chin."

McGregor is set to fight at UFC 202 in August against Nate Diaz as he looks to return to winning ways after his defeat to the Stockton man in the main event of UFC 196.
