Colin Farrell revealed on Ellen DeGeneres’ chat show how he enjoyed a “romantic relationship” with Elizabeth Taylor in the final years of her life.

The actor happened to be in the same hospital as Taylor after the birth of his son. On learning that Taylor was ill, Farrell had flowers sent to the former Hollywood screen siren. To his surprise, the renowned romantic Taylor had already sent him orchids.

From then, their friendship developed into what Farrell describes as “the last romantic relationship I had, which was never consummated.”

The actor told DeGeneres about their late night phone calls and how much he adored her, adding: “She was a spectacular, spectacular woman... I wanted to be her eighth [husband] but we sadly ran out of road.”
