Australia's Test players face an emotional match when they take on India in the first Test in Adelaide tomorrow.

Each of Australia’s players will wear the number 408 in memory of Phillip Hughes, the Australian batsman who died 11 days ago from injuries suffered after being struck by a cricket ball during a Sheffield Shield match at the Sydney Cricket Ground two days previously.

Hughes has also been named as the Baggy Greens’ 13th man for the Test.

Australia captain Michael Clarke is fit again to lead his country into combat, and team-mate Mitchell Johnson has paid tribute to his skipper who has led the nation’s outpouring of grief in the wake of Hughes’s death.

“It’s a huge boost having him back in and playing for us, I think,” said Johnson, “with his captaincy - and he’s shown how strong he is over the past couple of weeks with the tragedy we’ve had.”
