Brighton manager Chris Hughton has heaped praise on Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino for the way in which he has built a formidable outfit.

Spurs lie second in the Premier League after beating title rivals Manchester City yesterday and are among the favourites to win a first title since 1961.

Pochettino has also built around a core of talented young players like Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Eric Dier, which has impressed ex-Ireland full-back Hughton, who played for Spurs between 1977 and 1990.

"To get that balance of moving out the players that you need to move out and of course developing young ones takes time generally. He's done it very well and what he has at his disposal have been some very good young players that have developed very, very well," he said.
