Ireland's winning tally at this year's Cheltenham Festival has now risen to eight. For the third day in a row, an Irish runner has taken the opening race of the afternoon after Kerry jockey Brian Cooper partner the Tony Martin-trained Bennefficient to victory in the Jewson Novices Chase.

The second race of the afternoon, the Pertemps Hurdle was won by Holywell from the Johnjo O'Neill stable.
Next-up is one of the highlights of today's card, the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at 3.20.

Ahead of the previous race, the Ryanair Chase, leading jockey Davy Russell was been ruled out for the rest of the day after a heavy fall, which meant that Cooper's reward for winning the opener was a seat on-board "First Lieutenant" for trainer Mouse Morris.

First Lieutenant finished behind Cue Card, the second favourite.
